Something I have just recently been thinking about is how we take care of "things" in our possession. In the 1900's people back then truly had to make due with what they had. What they did have they probably made or built themselves. They took good care of what they had because they had very little so they cherished it. They passed things down from child to child. They were just simply better stewards with what they had!
Now we have the opportunity to go to the nearest store and get what we want. We seem to place little value on what we have now days. Being a christian I think we should be better stewards with what we have in our possession. We are so quick to discard items. I'm also not saying that we should hang on to every single thing we have and become hoarders either. If we have something that we truly cannot use anymore, we should most definitely pass it on to someone else who could use it or try and sell it to make a portion of your money back. We have become people of hanging on to stuff "just because".
When we really think about moving away from "stuff" or trying to earn a portion of the money back by selling your items in a yard sale for example or consign your items we're being a good steward of our finances, because we're taking better care of the things that we've spent money on.
